Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival at Jeonnongro

An important note on Jeju’s updated bus system and this blog post

From August 2017, Jeju Island implemented a new city and intercity bus system. It increased the number of buses in service, while simplifying the routes, fees and numbering system.

Consequently, the contents of this previously published blog post may have changed. We therefore would kindly request that you consult this page for new bus maps in English on,  and this page on our blog for a chart of the old and new bus route numbers.

If you read Korean, then the province’s official bus system website is a useful and up-to-date resource. We hope you’ll enjoy your travels on Jeju Island!

The Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival 2016 officially kicked off today at Jeonnongro. The street is lined with beautiful blooming cherry blossom trees. DSC02598

To get to Jeonnongro, you can get off at Hangook Hospital and walk for about 10 minutes. Or you can get off at Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal and walk for about 15 minutes. You can see pretty murals showing the way to the festival venue.

The street is lined with blooming cherry blossom trees. Near the trees lanterns are strung to create a festive atmosphere. It’s a great festival for family, friends, and couples. Looking up, one can see the blue sky dotted with pink flowers.

Besides the beautiful scenery, there are various booths selling home-made products and knick-knacks and children toys. You can even play carnival games to win prizes.

No festival is complete without food! There were delicious street food and grilled meat. Furthermore, there were several fun food items, like cotton candy in the shape of a duck, a water globe cake like the one famous in Japan, and sprinkled banana.

Strolling around, you can take pictures with unique characters. There is even a stage for tonight’s special concerts.

It’s a beautiful weekend to be out in the sun. Make sure to stop by the Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival to see these beautiful flowers! You can check out the rest of the festival program on our blogpost here.

For our new blog, we have a special Chit-Chat section! If you are curious about anything in Jeju, please let us know. You may be surprised at how we plan to answer your questions. ^_^
