An important note on Jeju’s updated bus system and this blog post
From August 2017, Jeju Island implemented a new city and intercity bus system. It increased the number of buses in service, while simplifying the routes, fees and numbering system.
Consequently, the contents of this previously published blog post may have changed. We therefore would kindly request that you consult this page for new bus maps in English on VisitJeju.net, and this page on our blog for a chart of the old and new bus route numbers.
If you read Korean, then the province’s official bus system website is a useful and up-to-date resource. We hope you’ll enjoy your travels on Jeju Island!
I didn’t realize the importance of a Call Taxi until I realized there was no bus and I would have to walk nearly an hour to get to Daheeyeon for my zipline adventure! For those who are stranded in the countryside, Call Taxi is the solution (besides hitchhiking, but I wouldn’t recommend that, not even in Jeju! ^_^).
If you are hanging out or traveling in the city, taxis are fairly easy to flag down. I see them all the time in City Hall. It’s really affordable in Jeju, with the basic fare set at 2,800. But when you want to travel long distance, Call Taxi can save you money because they charge you a set price instead of going by the meter. And they come pick you up wherever you are!
Here is a list of different Call Taxi companies you can call depending on what area of Jeju you are in.
The north is divided into Aewol, Jeju City, and Jochen & Hamdeok. Jeju City has a lot more call taxis then the other areas, so you can choose your company.
Aewol Call Taxi: 064-799-9007

Andeok, Sagye, & Hwasun – Andeok Call Taxi: 064-794-1400

When calling the Call Taxi, you need to give them your current location and let them know where you will be going. The driver can give you a quote of how much it’ll cost so you can decide to use the service or not. These drivers mostly only speak Korean, so you can call the Korean Travel Hotline at 1330 for assistance.
