An important note on Jeju’s updated bus system and this blog post
From August 2017, Jeju Island implemented a new city and intercity bus system. It increased the number of buses in service, while simplifying the routes, fees and numbering system.
Consequently, the contents of this previously published blog post may have changed. We therefore would kindly request that you consult this page for new bus maps in English on VisitJeju.net, and this page on our blog for a chart of the old and new bus route numbers.
If you read Korean, then the province’s official bus system website is a useful and up-to-date resource. We hope you’ll enjoy your travels on Jeju Island!
I first introduced to you Geofood through our blogpost on Cafe Coji at Seongsan. Geofood entails baked goods, and main dishes, so today I would like to introduce a love restaurant named Zenhideaway.
This restaurant is located in Seogwipo City near Sanbangsan and Yongmeori Coast.
Address: 186-8 Sagyenamro, Andeokmyeon, Seogwipo City (제주특별자치도 서귀포시 안덕면 사계남로 186-8)
Directions by bus: You can take bus 750-1 from the Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal to Sagyeridongdong and walk for about 12 minutes to the restaurant. Coming from Seogwipo Intercity Bus Terminal, you can take bus 781 to Jungmun Post Office and transfer to bus 702. Then take bus 702 to Sagyeridongdong and walk to Zen Hideaway.
Zenhideaway has a magnificent view of the sea and Sanbangsan. You can eat indoors or outside on the patio.
Thanks to the big windows, you can still enjoy the scenery when you eat inside.
I really like the decor of the restaurant! The seats are colorful and comfortable.
But the food is the most important part, right? ^_^ For those who likes fried food, check out Zen Hideaway’s special geofood: MelChaRong Lunchbox.
This basket of fried delicacies has crispy seafood inspired from the haenyeo’s own lunchbox. The Jeju women divers used to pack glutinous millet, anchovies, potato, and fried vegetables for their lunch when they go out to sea. Here’s a modern take on it, but still using local ingredients.
Can’t forget some onion-flavored french fries! It comes with a dip too!
I had dinner here and loved it! Can you guess what this is?
Tada! It’s a geofood dish called Sanbang Moutain Dome Pasta. Once you cut through the “dome” top, you’ll get delicious seafood pasta underneath. Yummy!
Besides these two dishes that are part of the “Geofood” brand, Zen Hideaway offers a variety of soup, salads, pizzas, pastas, desserts, and smoothies. I enjoyed everything I tried the last time I went there. The price is a little expensive compared to a typical Korean meal, but it’s worth it for a nice dinner out of town.
And if you like the view, you can even rent a room right next to the restaurant in the Zen Hideaway resort. Wake up to the blue ocean and enjoy delicious food by the sea! ^_^
We hope you enjoy our blog about things you can see, do, and eat in Jeju! We look forward to connecting with you on social media!
