An important note on Jeju’s updated bus system and this blog post
From August 2017, Jeju Island implemented a new city and intercity bus system. It increased the number of buses in service, while simplifying the routes, fees and numbering system.
Consequently, the contents of this previously published blog post may have changed. We therefore would kindly request that you consult this page for new bus maps in English on VisitJeju.net, and this page on our blog for a chart of the old and new bus route numbers.

Let’s continue our island-hopping adventure to Chujado! Located on the western coast of Jeju, it comprises of four inhabited islands and 38 uninhabited islands. Chujado is famous for fishing and its scenic views.
Directions by bus: From the Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal bus stop, you can take bus 95 to the Jeju International Ferry Terminal. Then take the Hanil Red Pearl ferry to Hachujado dock (southern island of Chujado). The ferry ride to Chujado takes about 1 hour. You can also take bus 100 from the Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal bus stop to the Jeju Coastal Passenger Terminal and take the Queenstar 2 ferry to Sangchujado dock (northern island of Chujado). This ferry ride will take about 1 hour and a half.
From the Seogwipo Intercity Bus Terminal, you need to take bus 781 or 782 up to the Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal, and transfer to other buses to take you to the Jeju International Ferry Terminal or Jeju Coastal Passenger Terminal to catch a ferry over to Chujado.
There are a couple of ferries to Chujado. Please refer to the time schedule below.
You can feel the bustling energy of Chujado as soon as you get off the ferry.
The landscape of Chujado is dotted with colorful residential homes, surrounded by the water.
Olle hikers can walk olle course 18-1 on Chujado. The trail is 17.7km, starting from Chuja’s main town and reaches the peak of Sangchujado and Hachujado (the two connecting main islands).
Learn about Korean history by visiting General Choi Young’s shrine. General Choi Young was a commander and loyal subject of late Goryeo. In the Korean Drama Faith, starring Kim Hee Sun and Lee Min Ho, Lee Min Ho acted as the character of General Choi Young.
While walking along the coast of Chujado, you can find shade at many resting places and enjoy the view of the blue ocean.
Take a rest at this little gazebo and see the smaller islands of Chujado in the distance.
Chujado is really famous for fishing! See if you can catch one from its diverse pool of fish. In the winter, black porgy and horn fish are frequently caught. From spring to summer, yellow porgy, rudder fish, and bass are plentiful.
The most beautiful places in Chujado are called the 10 sceneries of Chuja. They include Uduilchul, Jikgunakjo, Sindeoyu, Sudeoknakan, Seokducheonsan, Changjakpyeongsa, Mangdosuhyang, and Hwengganchubeom.
From fishing to enjoying the many panoramic views of the sea, there is plenty to see and do. Take a couple of days to immerse yourself in the peace and beauty of Chujado.
