Coffee in the Science Park? Kakao comes to mind

The Korean portal and communications company Daum moved its headquarters to Jeju in 2012 and has since been renamed Kakao.

Up past Jeju National University and with a commanding view of the northern coast, Jeju Science Park houses a good number of tech and engineering companies. Given its location just southeast of Jeju City, it’s often the case that we’re driving by the area on our way to visit tourism sites in that part of the island.

But on the way, what about getting a cup of coffee? As it turns out, the headquarters of Kakao Corp. has a pleasant coffee shop that is open to the public. We dropped by for a new caffeinated experience.

The affogato was a pleasant mix of espresso and ice cream… it’s thought of as a dessert, but we didn’t care.

The open area, interesting architecture and large windows make for a rather unique “coffee time” that we think you might enjoy.

How to get there: The Jeju Science Park’s website has all the details.
