An important note on Jeju’s updated bus system and this blog post
From August 2017, Jeju Island implemented a new city and intercity bus system. It increased the number of buses in service, while simplifying the routes, fees and numbering system.
Consequently, the contents of this previously published blog post may have changed. We therefore would kindly request that you consult this page for new bus maps in English on VisitJeju.net, and this page on our blog for a chart of the old and new bus route numbers.
If you read Korean, then the province’s official bus system website is a useful and up-to-date resource. We hope you’ll enjoy your travels on Jeju Island!

It might be one of the most memorable coffee experiences for busy travelers. Enjoying a cup of coffee as you stay enveloped in a protective natural blanket of forest trees. Cool in summer, warm in winter, the forest makes for a perfect place to rest.
Coffee-friendly forest cafe
Goodbye Poly
Goodbye Poli is a café deep in the Seonheul Gotjawal forest. A quaint wooden house with a yard full of green grass, Goodbye Poly is a unique place built by a married couple and their neighborhood carpenter. Their life and personality permeate the place.
Before you enter the café, be sure to take quick stroll around the grounds. Their garden is truly something to experience.
Then, once you can’t hold off indulging in a delicious cup of coffee, head inside the cafe and take in the scent of brewing java, the wood of the building, and the whole atmosphere. The warm-colors of the wooden structure are reminiscent of a page from a fairy tale, mixed in with the personality of the owners.
In addition to delicious coffee, Goodbye Poly also has homemade Jeju tangerine and citrus yogurt, chocolate brownies and lemon layer cheesecake. All the drinks and cakes are homemade. In this spirit of independence and environmentally friendly business practises, the cafe’s name — Goodbye Polly — actually implies a rejection of plastic. So if you do want to take your beverage or cake with you, please bring your own containers.
Goodbye Polly has a couple of mascots — a dog and cat named Bongsiki and Gojaengi — who are truly members of the family. Be sure to greet them! But please note that young children and pets — and of course people who are allergic or uncomfortable around pets — should refrain from visiting Goodbye Poly for their own comfort and safety. You can check when the cafe is open by referring to their Instagram page.

The cafe has a variety of beverages to choose from, in addition to a number of homemade French-style baked goods. These include walnut pie, a pumpkin cheesecake, and a Jeju apple and Jeju carrot juice option. They even have lasagna if you’re really hungry!

Verdant scenes through the window
Camino
Camino is located in the Haga-ri area of Aewol-eup, Jeju-si. There’s a panoramic view out the picture windows, a small volcanic cone, and plenty of green foliage and water features. There’s a large rooftop area as well. The modern structure and quiet surroundings are remarkably comfortable and pleasant. The owners have characterized this as “La idea”, meaning a space created for thinking, contemplating and resting. The large windows help one to open one’s mind as you sip on your choice of coffee roast — such as Vienna coffee — or herbal teas.

A vast scene beyond a small cafe
Sumbinari
Sumbinari Cafe is located in the Sumbinari area of Andeok-myeon, Jeju-si, and on first viewing seems like a magical place with a stunning view of Sanbangsan Mountain and the ocean in the distance. The second floor loft area is especially cozy and has a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere. On the outdoor terrace, you can spot between the palm groves and forest a few grazing Jeju ponies that look like an artist had painted them there.
Sumbinari has a great brunch menu of coffee, English muffins, salads, and fried potatoes and veggies. At sunset, you can still enjoy the pleasure of a “late lunch” amid the pinkish blue tint of night approaching. Heaven! Please note that the terrace may be hazardous for children and pets, so please take care if you go upstairs.

A coffee museum
Baum
As you drive through the middle mountainous region of Hallasan, the wind picks up and the forest begins to get denser. Located here is a cafe / coffee museum that’s not too far from Seongsan Sunrise Peak on the island’s east-end.
It’s a large cafe with plenty of coffee-related accoutrements, like old-style coffee grinders and other accessories that are on display and artistically arranged as part of their museum collection.
The second floor view of the cedar forest is very calming, and as Baum is located along Jeju Olle walking trail No. 2, it’s a great place for hikers to take a break and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
