In a pivotal year for the cruise tourism industry in the region, Jeju will be the venue for the 2017 Asia Cruise Forum Jeju, a key meeting of some 1,500 business executives, experts, academics and government officials held from Aug. 24 to the 27th at the International Convention Center Jeju in Jungmun, Seogwipo.
The topics to be discussed are especially topical in light of recent geopolitical events in the region. Under the theme of “Cooperation and Win-Win in Asia Cruise Industry”, there is a comprehensive line-up of session topics and honored invitees set for this annual forum held here on the island.
The Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, Mr. Kim Young-Choon, and Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong will speak at the opening ceremony on Friday, Aug. 25, followed by an opening session comprised of speeches by senior executives of five major cruise line companies (Princess Cruises, Carnival China, MSC Cruises, SkySea Cruise Line, and Genting Cruise Line).
The first session of the afternoon is titled “Strategy to Diversify Cruise Market” while Session 2 deals with “Changing Trend in Cruise Market and our response”. A seminar in International Marine Tourism and a Shipbuilding Equipment Business Meeting will also be held that afternoon.
Session 3 of the forum on Saturday Aug. 26 is titled “Fostering Cruise Port/ Terminal and its Business Strategy”, while Session 4 will touch upon “Building and Boosting Cruise Network”. A “Cruise Crew Job Fair” will also be held on the day from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
