The lush Gotjawal Forest of the Hwasun area of Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, is a very pleasant place to walk at any time of year. The terrain is quite rough, so it is equipped with a sturdy walkway for the safety of walkers and to keep their environmental impact to a bare minimum. One of the reasons this small section of forest is so pristine and biodiverse (there are over 50 species of flora and fauna here) is that it is a rough, volcanic plain, one which is littered with large boulders and overgrown vegetation.
