The victims of Jeju Island’s April 3rd Incident are similarly commemorated with the camellia, or dongbaek, flower.
This year, the 70th anniversary of the Incident, you’ll see this particular pin more and more on the lapels of islanders as this year’s April 3rd ceremony approaches.
There are two kinds — one ceramic, one metal — which are being distributed free of charge and with limited availability through the beginning of March at April 3rd related organizations and local city and village administrative offices.
The exact number of badges made represents the number of victims commemorated at the Jeju 4.3 Peace Park: 14,232.
