KakaoMap’s ‘Jeju Bus’ layer is live and very useful
One of the most popular questions we get at the JTO is about the island’s public transportation system, namely its buses (we don’t have a train or subway system).
There have been tons of improvements over the years, including modern new buses, more routes, free and reliable WiFi, and reduced (yes, you read that correctly) fares.
Very recently, Kakao Corp added a new layer to its map application called “Jeju Bus”.
If you install the app on your phone, you can set the language to show English place names and also see the buses in real time.
These bus icons move across the map and provide useful info about your bus and any other available options.
Note: Naver Maps has the advantage of listing all the bus stops in English, but at present there is no real time bus info.
You can always call the Jeju Tourist Information Center for any Jeju inquiries you may have in preparation or during your trip (daily 9am to 6 pm): www.visitjeju.net/u/3BY
