The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency has stepped up monitoring, enforcement, and fines since the summer.
If you are coming to Jeju Island with any food items with pork products, or have visited a farm in a country listed below at least 5 days prior to arriving on Jeju Island, you must report this upon your arrival at customs and immigration.
Asia: China/Hong Kong, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia, North Korea, Laos Europe: Latvia, Russia, Romania, Lithuania, Moldova, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary Africa: 29 nations total
Failure to do so could result in a fine ranging from USD1,000 to USD10,000.
Currently at Jeju International Airport x-ray machines set to detect livestock epidemics and foreign insects are in operation, as are increased luggage inspections by staff tasked with preventing ASF transmission.
