Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced this afternoon (Aug. 31) that the number of COVID-19 infections related to Sanbangsan Tansan Hot Springs in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, has risen to six (Jeju patients #29, #33, #40, #42, #44, #46).
Jeju patient #46 was confirmed today to have contracted COVID-19 after having visited Sanbangsan Tansan Hot Springs. They were contacted by investigators and sought testing at 9:15 a.m. this morning at Seogwipo City Health Center (West). A positive diagnosis was reached at about 3 p.m.
The province is asking that anyone (residents or tourists) who has visited the Hot Springs in the last two weeks and who show any symptoms to 1) refrain from further public contacts and 3) to seek medical advice/attention immediately by contacting their local public health center or the KCDC COVID-19 hotline by calling 1339.
As soon as a detailed investigation into the whereabouts of this individual are identified, updates may be released to the public.
On Aug. 23 a Jeju couple (cases #29, #33) spent time at the Hot Springs while infected resulting in a number of secondary infections.
