Over the weekend it was announced that an individual who previously came into contact with Jeju patient #30, and who was in self-isolation, has since tested positive for COVID-19.
Health officials said the individual developed a cough during self-isolation and a test confirmed their diagnosis of COVID-19 infection.
The individual, who is now listed as Jeju case #48, has been transferred to a negative pressure COVID-19 ward at Jeju National University Hospital.
Currently 20 individuals are in treatment on Jeju Island and another 500+ individuals in precautionary self-quarantine at home. Patient #30 is an employee of the Jeju Free International City Development Center who traveled to the mainland in mid-August.
Given patient #48’s compliance with self-isolation protocols, a detailed epidemiological investigation was deemed unnecessary.
