Jeju case #49, the individual who arrived from the U.S. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, took Korean Air flight KE1235 (1:10 p.m.~2:20 p.m.) from Gimpo Airport to Jeju Airport.
This afternoon at 1:30 p.m., local health authorities announced that an individual returning from the United States tested positive for COVID-19 after a mandatory test at Jeju Airport’s walk-through screen station.
This person, who was asymptomatic, arrived yesterday, Sept. 8, and was subject to extra screening and quarantine precautions. They are now being treated at Jeju National University Hospital’s dedicated COVID-19 negative pressure ward.
Provincial health authorities are conducting an epidemiological investigation. We will update this post when details of the person’s flight and whereabouts prior to quarantine are made public.
