Six new negative pressure ambulances are now in service on Jeju Island as part of its COVID-19 critical care infrastructure. Governor Won Heeryong inspected the fleet during a demonstration event yesterday.
These six ambulances will help to safely transport patients with infectious diseases like COVID-19 and block any spread to medical personnel and the local community.
The province is deploying these new negative pressure ambulances at four fire stations around the island and at each of the Public Health Centers in Jeju City and Seogwipo City.
Larger than regular ambulances, they have room for negative-pressure bulkheads and gurneys, as well as specialized equipment necessary for the emergency treatment of patients with compromised respiratory systems and other infectious disease symptoms.
