Marado, Korea’s southernmost point

Marado is a small island south of Jeju with a famous lighthouse, beautiful ocean views, and a variety of seafood and black bean noodle dishes to enjoy. Want to try something a little different while you’re on Jeju? Try visiting Marado!

Highlights:

Yummy local food

Marado has a reputation as an excellent place to eat black bean noodles, or jajangmyeon mixed with fresh seafood, in particular with locally sourced sea algae, called tot (톳).

Marado Lighthouse

The Marado Island lighthouse, which faces the ocean on a green grass field, is used as a sign of land for the ships that travel in through the southern sea. It’s Korea’s “Heemangbong” (Cape of Good Hope) lighthouse.

Southernmost point in Korea

It is the starting point and the ending point of Korea. On the island, you can see the southernmost point monument and it only takes 90 minutes to walk along the coast.
